Welcome to Martha's Room

Occupying the northeast corner of the store, Martha's Room contains Poetry (from Blake to Rankine), any Audio/Visual materials (books on CD, classes on DVD, etc), and some collectible series, like the Library of America or the Modern Library, depending on space.

Why is it called Martha's Room?

Before the Haunted came to stay, this building was the home of bookstore Murphy-Brookfield Books and, among their long line of cats, our favorite: Martha. Night flocked with gold stars, she was, even when mundanely sleeping in a paper-box lid under a warm lamp on the old-fashioned check-out counter usually manned in those years by Mark Brookfield. She also had a curious fondness for sitting on shoulders, and many's the time she rode in Nialle's coat hood during a long poetry browse.
