Frivol - September 1942
University of Iowa, 1942. Magazine. Good. Item #064963
Pages clean except for small, scattered gray spots on three pages; stapled binding is rust-stained, but secure; cover has some pencil ghosting at the lower front, surface rubbing, radiant creases along the spine, and some edge and corner wear, but remains overall bright and striking. 20pp. Lead articles discuss wartime football (dismal prospects) and the Navy, but the rest of the magazine is filled with the usual one-liners and rather shocking imprecations. "Frivol" was among the many campus humor magazines flourishing across the country in its time; this magazine was under the management of Sigma Delta Chi, the professional journalism fraternity, and ran from 1919-1951, usually publishing seven issues per year.
