Clean pages except for a prior owner's ink stamp on the front free endpaper; the "Family Record" pages remain blank; gilding around page block edges is noticeably scratched, and a fold-out map of Palestine bears a long tear across Samaria as well as creasing along edges, otherwise sound interior. Front hinge detached, back hinge separating, but the sewing itself remains tight. Pebbled cloth boards bear dark handling stains and a small open tear at the rear foreedge; leather corners show wear down to the boards; leather backstrip bears a closed tear at the spine head, some scuffing particularly along joints, and small open chips at spine ends; nonetheless attractive, with gilt titles and decoration on both boards and on spine. lxiv, 1097pp.; 4to.
