Description

Signed, dated 1976, and inscribed by Gene Sharp to a named individual on the title page of the first volume. No owners' marks; there is some very light, scattered shelf smudging on the page block edges of Part Three and two small, clear marks on the right page block edge of Part One, but otherwise the pages of each volume are clean, crisp, and bright; each binding is square and without reading creases; surface rubbing is visible on the covers of all three volumes, and there is noticable edge and corner wear; the spines are sunned, and each volume has surface scars at the spine heads from adhesive removal; otherwise, clean and well-kept. Gene Sharp is recognized the world over as a leading theorist of nonviolent resistance, whom the BBC has called: "the man credited with the strategy behind the toppling of governments from Serbia to Egypt." This is the revised and expanded version of Sharp's doctoral thesis at the University of Oxford.
