Clean except for a prior owner's name at the front free endpaper and a small yellow adhesion in the top margin of the final text page; full cloth cover bears modest softening at spine ends, otherwise excellent; dust jacket shows several small, closed edge tears, some with attendant creases, as well as a bluish smudge at the left front and some toning along the spine, otherwise attractive and now protected in a clear sleeve. vii, 125pp. Arguably the first love story in novel form and definitely influential in the development of historical fiction; the composition date is still debated but is likely to have been in the first or second century CE.
