Crisp, clean pages with no owners' marks, though with numerous small spots of light wear to the gilt along the head- and foreedges of both books; a little-finger-nail sized surface chip in the leather just above the spine heel of the first volume, which also bears thin scuffs along the bottom edge of the rear board; both volumes show spots of wear to the gilt decoration on the front and rear of the covers as well as points of shelfwear at the corners; otherwise excellent. xi, 873pp. w/ index in both volumes. Full navy leather binding with gold decoration; bound-in ribbon, moire endpapers, all page edges gilded.
