San Francisco: W. H. Freeman and Company, 1954. Hardcover. Good / No Dustjacket. Item #071989
Pages sound, though bearing scattered notes in pencil, a few small stains on some pages, and prior owners' marks on the endpapers; binding modestly relaxed, but secure; cloth hard cover is worn with fraying evident at corners and spine ends and also bears a short surface tear at mid-spine, visible surface wear at all panels including rubbing to the silver lettering and decoration, small bumps in three places along the left rear edge, and shelfwear with some fading around all edges; nonetheless sturdy and whole. There is a hint on page 139 of the discovery that would win Pauling the Nobel Prize in Chemistry later the same year. 705pp. w/ index, illustrated.
