Beetle's Career

London: Jonathan Cape, 1951. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good in Fair dust jacket / Good -. Item #068198

Pages crisp and clean except for modest foxing at the endpapers and preliminaries and a rectangle of adhesive stain at the final free endpaper; spine has a slight lean, but binding remains secure; red hard cover bears only a light tap to the bottom left rear, softening of the spine ends, and modest rubbing at corners and spine ends. Dustjacket is faded and scuffed along the spine, the title barely legible, and there are lines of surface chipping along both sides of the spine, a closed tear at the upper right front, surface wear along the foreedges, shallow creases at head and heel edges of the interior flap, a tear across the bottom right cover of the front flap (removing the price), some gray smudges visible in the light-colored areas, a faint spot of adhesive staining at the upper rear, and some open chipping at corners and spine ends, but remains overall intact and is now protected in a clear sleeve. 160pp. Mad scientist plus military-industrial complex accidentally equals a metaphysical portraiture machine and a reverse Dorian Gray story ensues.
