Signed by the author at the front free endpaper with an inscription addressed only to "Dear Friend". Pages otherwise clean except for a gift note, between named parties, at the front fixed endpaper and foxing at the top and right edges; binding square and secure, hard cover only rubbed at spine ends and corners, otherwise sound. Jacket is priceclipped, faded along the spine and foreedges, water-stained along the lower rear and partway up the right rear and also water-spotted at the bottom left corner of the front interior flap, modestly foxed across the rear and around the edges of the interior flaps, and chipped and rubbed with the occasional short, closed tear at the spine ends and corners, otherwise intact and attractive, now protected in a clear sleeve. 229pp. w/ index.; Signed by Author.
