A Chinese Mirror: Being Reflections of the Reality Behind Appearance

Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1925. Illustrated by Drawings by Lucille Douglass. Hardcover. Good with no dust jacket / No Dustjacket. Item #060521

Publication undated, but a printed postscript on the dedication page is dated 1925, and a gift bookplate on the front endpaper is dated 1926. Apart from the bookplate and a spot of removed adhesive on the front endpaper, a little mild toning through the margins, and a clear drip spot at the head edge of the page block not affecting margins, the pages are clean; the binding is mildly relaxed, but secure, the quarter red cloth somewhat darkened along the spine and bearing a few scattered, pale spots, some softening and rubbing at the spine ends, and dimming of the gilt titles, the paper-covered boards worn through at the corners and showing chips and wear around the edges and a few scattered scuffs on the surfaces and scratching on the rear, as well as a school's gilt seal affixed to the front, but the cover remains overall sound. 464pp. w/index, fold-out map.
