Edinburgh: T. Constable and Co., 1858. Hard Cover. Good. Item #047241
Two-volume set. The pages of these volumes are clean except for a prior owner's name penned at the title page of the first volume and the first blank page of the second, a strip of tape repair at the title page of the first, and modest foxing at preliminaries and finals. The bindings are square and tight, the full leather worn at corners and spine ends and showing some wear at the shoulders and raised bands of the spines, small spots and short scratches and scuffs front and back on each volume, and some darkening at the spines, yet overall, the two volumes remain clean, sound, and attractive. As to the quality and authenticity of the history herein, General Colletta did witness some of it in the making but also had a tendency to remember a little more about his personal enemies than was politic (or perhaps even true). Thrilling nonetheless. 470pp. + 604pp. with an index in the second volume.
