Marta Finds the Golden Door

New York, NY: Grosset & Dunlap, 1941. Illustrated by Holland, Janice (color work); Stein, Harve (black and white). Hardcover. Very Good in Good dust jacket / Good. Item #044539

The pages of this copy clean and bright, apart from some faint age toning at the margins and some slightly darker toning at the page block edges; the binding is secure, if slightly relaxed. Brightly colored frontispiece and several black and white illustrations throughout. The pictorial hard cover shows some rubbing and small chips at the edges and corners, and the cloth spine is slightly rubbed at the ends, but the cover is otherwise clean and lovely. The jacket has some open chipping at corners and spine ends, short, closed edge tears at the rear with some creasing between, and handling soil at the rear, but remains overall sound and attractive, now protected in a new, clear sleeve. 118pp., illustrated. A story of hope and resilience among immigrants fleeing political oppression to come to America for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Lest we forget.
