How to Purchase

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, postal money orders, PayPal, and in some cases personal or institutional checks from within the US. All prices listed and all transactions are in US dollars. Sales tax will be added to all orders shipped within the state of Iowa; the percentage will vary by county. This is an open shop, and thus all books are subject to prior sale.

Shipping Rates

Shipping quotes can be made by telephone or email based on destination country or United States ZIP Code and desired speed of delivery. All orders are shipped by United States Postal Service mail unless otherwise requested. Additional services such as insurance or delivery confirmation are available at cost. For orders totalling over US$300.00, insurance is provided free of charge.

Returns and Claims

Returns of books purchased online or by mail or phone order are accepted within 30 days of receipt by the buyer, provided that the returned item is received by us in condition as shipped. Full refunds will be issued for books clearly not as advertised or described; a partial refund or store credit may be available for discretionary returns (you must contact us to confirm prior to returning the book). Postage will be refunded only if the return is the result of our error.

These terms apply to purchases made by email, telephone, mail, or other direct order. Terms of sale for purchases made through Biblio.com or other online purchasing venues are posted at the respective websites.

In-Store Purchases

In addition to Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Haunted Bookshop Gift Certificates, local personal cheques, and cash, we also accept Iowa City Community Gift Certificates for purchases made in our open store. All books and other items are priced and sold "as is." We offer and accept store credit for books only.

Teachers' Discount

To teachers of preschool through high school students purchasing books for classroom use, we are able to offer discounts depending on amount of purchase. This discount is available only on in-store purchases.
