A White Ghostnote
A White Ghostnote showing
a typically eclectic set of
recommendations. Our Ghosts are so awesome.

When you're browsing our shelves, you may notice that many volumes have bookmarks peeking over the tops of the pages. These are Ghostnotes.

White notes show recommendations by one of our friends or visitors. Not sure what to read next? Take a look at some of your favourite books and see if there's a white Ghostnote inside. If there is, that means someone who loves this book left a list of their other favourites in the same style, genre, literary family, topic, or with some other connection to this book.

Want to leave some white Ghostnotes of your own? You can fill them out at the front counter, then leave them in books for other people to find. It's a great way to introduce other readers to your other book friends (and a fun way to show off your tastes, too).

Blue notes are Nialle's recommendations for further reading, and Green notes are Kurt's. Red notes are Meara's.

Gold notes tell you more about books that are signed by the author, illustrator, and/or editor. These notes identify the edition (and printing and issue, if known), clarify whether the signature is accompanied by an inscription or date, and when possible, describe the provenance of the signature.

Brown notes are usually in literary classics and plays. These tell you if more copies of the book are available and whether they are in the same or other editions. (We keep multiple copies of some books on hand, especially those that might be used by students and teachers, but copies may be in our storeroom.)
